Overview

We dedicate countless hours to bringing you the people, a truly unique shopping experience. The initiative is re-inventing thrift shopping and the connotation it comes with, whether that be negative or positive. In 6 month durations, we assemble a team of tastemakers, merchandisers and designers to play a role in building our pop-up thrift shop that lasts for a few memorable hours.

***

Each store is comprised of one-of-a-kind garments, displayed in a temporary, one-of-a-kind setting, coupled with a special selection of music specifically selected for that particular store. We've also been fortunate enough to collaborate with visual artists to display their work at the store. Interim is a novel thrift space that is meant to cater to both the fashion conscious and the frugal consumer alike. It is a mecca of handpicked goods; with an upscale approach that still emphasizes its frugal principals.

The Pros: You have a comparable if not better, selection of fashions (including nic nacs) for Men, Women and Kids at unmatched prices. Nothing at our store is priced over $50(US).
The Cons: You'll have to make very keen choices on what you decide to buy as the store permits a purchase limit of only 3 items per customer a day.

Past Shops

The first Interim location was Smash, a salvage furniture shop/gallery located in Toronto's junction. Eager customers were served Bruschetta and Sangria as they waited in a line comparable to Walmart's on Boxing Day; all the while plotting what items they would pursue once given the opportunity. Once our doors opened, it was a race, and in just 15 minutes the entire store's inventory was gone.

***

The second Interim location was The Mascot. The independent coffee shop/gallery located at Queen St. West and Dufferin was met with an even bigger crowd. To control the flow of traffic only a specific number of customers were allowed to enter at a time.

This, along with a larger inventory broadened the shopping window longer than that of the first Interim.

Following some international attention, whilst in the process of completing issue one of our namesake magazine, we dedicated our third store to the gentlemen of Toronto.

Our third Interim location was the Toronto Free Gallery, located in Bloor West Village. An assortment of fine Ties, blazers, oxford shirts and accessories were displayed as

pieces of art in a minimalist style. Similar to the second Interim, only a specific number of customers were allowed to shop at a time. A line extended for blocks outside

as onlookers peered through the windows impatiently waiting. However, with this shopping structure, we had the pleasure of giving our customers hands on advice on

what 3 items suited them best. After just two short hours, the entire inventory had once again sold out.

Overview

In our day and age pop culture plays a large role in the lives of the younger generation. Icons are influencers and are portraying the glory of their lifestyles but not providing the correct manuscript for the youth so they understand reason, method and discretion.

***

For adults it may be hard to communicate with their children due to the growing generation gap that only widens as time progresses. Because of this we have put together 1 hour sessions where we give awareness of the possible pitfalls and

allow the youth to discuss our culture with other young adults that can directly relate to the challenges they are presented with. For more information, testimony or to book a visit please contact Courtney Eastman at courtney@theartofreuse.ca

The art of re use's visit last summer was a huge success! Everything from the activities to the one-on-one interaction left a lasting impression on our youth. Their extensive experience and colorful approach to redefining thrift culture was absolutely brilliant!
- Dalvis D (Boys & Girls Club of Peel Region)

What a talented group! They came in to my fashion class and discussed their business venture and left the students and myself totally inspired and more willing to shop the thrift way. If you are looking for chic yet cheap garments and accessories, you must check out their collection.
- Maria Stojadinovic (Notre Dame Secondary)
